About Janet Frew

Janet Frew is provisionally identified here as the daughter of Matthew Frew at Kilwinning, in the Cunningham division of North Ayrshire, and his wife Agnes Patrick. A baptismal record has not been identified for Janet (unless she can be identified with Jean Frew) and so this cannot be regarded as certain, but this couple did have a daughter named Jean who was born before 2 January 1698 Scotland, Births and Baptisms a daughter named Agnes who was born on 6 January 1695 Ibidem and a son named Matthew who was born before 17 December 1699 Ibidem The names Matthew and Agnes are also noticed in Janet's family. Janet and her husband named three of their sons Matthew.

Janet Frew may be the lady identified as: "Mrs Petters spouse to Thomas Petters Mert" who died on or before 20 May 1746 and was buried in Glasgow [Registrar General for Scotland, New Register House, Edinburgh, Glasgow Deaths, 1739-57, reference OPR.644/47].
