About Jean Marvene Elliott

On Sept. 16, 2020, J. Marvene (Waltman) Elliott, loving wife, mother and grammy, passed away peacefully at the age of 94. Marvene was born on Sept. 9, 1926, in Allenwood, Pa., to John and Helen (Fry) Waltman. In 1944, Marvene graduated from Montgomery High School where she played the cello and the snare drum in the marching band. Three years later, she graduated from Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing, earning special commendation for excellent hospital corners. She then completed advanced training in emergency nursing at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Ill. Marvene provided decades of joyful service as a registered nurse at the Williamsport Hospital and through the Visiting Nurses Association in Williamsport, Pa. She married the love of her life, Art "Archie" Elliott, after meeting on a blind date. They enjoyed nearly 70 years together and were members of Messiah Lutheran Church in South Williamsport for over 50 years. Marvene treasured the company of her family and enjoyed traveling with the Airstream club. In her spare time, she also enjoyed singing alto with the Sweet Adelines. She adored square dancing, loved animals and savored any bowl of ice cream. Marvene was an excellent cook and her family eagerly awaited her pies and candied sweet potatoes at Thanksgiving every year. The consummate caregiver, she will be remembered for her generosity, hospitality, humor and compassionate spirit. She was preceded in death by her three brothers: Max, Ned and John Waltman. Marvene was a breast cancer survivor and though battling dementia in her later years, she found joy and laughter every day. In 2017, Marvene moved to Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village in Lewisburg. Her family wishes to thank the staff in Blue Jay Way for their extraordinary care of Marvene, who was the proud mother hen, self-appointed nursing supervisor and housekeeper of the unit for over three years. She is survived by six daughters: Jeanne (Wayne Marshall) of Bettendorf, Iowa; Sue (Ted Evans) of Trout Run, Pa.; Sonya (Gary Boden) of Dauphin, PA; Carol (Joseph Prisco) of Cherry Hill, N.J.; Paula (David Young) of Lewisburg, Pa.; Sally of Eagles Mere, PA. She was a beloved Grammy to her 15 grandchildren (Nicole, Toby, Jenni, Keith, Erich, Todd, Gustaf, Patrick, Jared, Bryan, Seth, Katelyn, Christopher, Helena and Dresher) and six great-grandchildren. Marvene and her beloved husband were reunited on Sept. 17, 2020, when he passed away in his home. Family and friends are invited to call from 12 to 1 p.m., Friday, Sept. 25, at Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Svc PC, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville. There will be a joint celebration honoring Marvene and Arthur held at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Presbyterian Cemetery, McEwensville. To honor Marvene's spirit of giving, consider donating to the American Cancer Society, your local animal shelter or Together Rising, a nonprofit that provides support to families in need across the country. www.wfbrooksfuneralhome.comj.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Nov 13 2020, 22:19:54 UTC
