Jean Hamilton is the daughter Alexander Hamilton of Dalziel and his wife Bethia Henderson. Hamilton Memoirs, p. 274 She was born before 9 December 1676, the date upon which her baptism was registered at Dalziel in Lanarkshire, Scotland. Her baptismal record reads as follows: "baptized Jean daughter to the Laird of Dalzell borne about 3 hours in the morning off same day she was baptized."
