Jean J. Hilbert of East Peoria, Illinois passed away Monday, April 5, 2021 at the University Rehab Center in Peoria, Illinois. Jean was born May 26, 1931, in Braddock, PA, the oldest of seven children born to the late John George and Nellie Dolores Dennis Sage. She had many fond memories of growing up in her hometown of North Braddock, which she would often share with her grandchildren.
She shared fond memories of relatives and her years working at Westinghouse. She met her future husband George Hilbert of Stoutsville, Missouri at a dance in Pennsylvania and they married on November 24, 1955 in Contra Costa, California, before moving to East Peoria where she worked for OSF Saint Francis Medical Center for many years. After retirement she volunteered with Senior Saints and the Children’s Miracle Network Telethon. She is survived by her husband, George, beloved sisters Flo Love of Pennsylvania, Sally (Rich) Lanyi of Georgia, brother Frank (Kathy) Sage of Pennsylvania, her sons Leonard (Anne) Hilbert and Mark (Beth) of Peoria, eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Pat Yurek, Mirium Lupyan, John Sage and her beloved eldest son, Ronald “Ronnie” of East Peoria.
Jean was an amazing cook. Her pigs in a blanket, mushroom meatballs and zucchini bread are greatly missed by those who have tried them. She loved her family, dancing, her dogs, her birds, shopping at Kohl’s, Cornstock Theater performances, volunteering for OSF, and on the board for Saint Francis credit union."
