Jenny had to take care of her mother with her brother Norton. She was a smoker and drinker; she lived in sin for twelve years before marrying her first husband, who died and left her very financially comfortable; she lived in Meridian Hotel, Indianapolis marrying a hotel man about half her age. When Sabina died Jennie's life changed so much. Sabrina's son Dick Green became Jennie's most favorite person in the world. Dick Green's wife did not like Jennie and there was a falling out. After that she adopted Brenda and took over running her life and that turned out horrible for Brenda.
