Jeffrey Lee Mast, 62, formerly of Farmerstown died peacefully Monday, December 8, 2008 at Walnut Hills Nursing Home after a period of declining health. He was born May 19, 1946 in Walnut Creek to Frances L. (Miller) Mast of Walnut Creek and the late Gerald O. Mast. He attended the Holmes County Training Center and Shelter Workshop for many years until his physical health deteriorated to where he could no longer attend. Jeffrey was a member of the Walnut Creek Mennonite Church. He loved to sing and could sing many hymns and choruses by heart. He also did not know anyone who was not his friend. Jeffrey is survived by a loving family; his mother Frances, 2 brothers Gary (Nila) Mast of Benton and Murray (Jan) Mast of Canton; 2 Sisters Ann (Scott) McGowan of Polluck Pines, California and Teresa (Bruce) Davis of Idaho Springs, Colorado; 6 nieces, Stacy (Mast) Egli, Jessica Mast, Elizabeth and Hannah Holdsworth, and Jody and Jaclyn McGowan; 3 nephews Christopher Mast, Jeffrey Mast, and Jaret McGowan; 1 great niece Lana Mast and 4 great nephews Blake, Gramm and Hunter Egli and Lucas Mast. He is preceded by his father Gerald O. Mast, a nephew Gerald Patrick (Rick) Mast, and great grandparents Orus and Iva Miller and Ray and Ida Mast. Celebration of Life Services will be Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Walnut Creek Mennonite Church with Pastor Bob Schloneger and Pastro Beau Hummel officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call Friday 4-7 PM at the Walnut Creek Mennonite Church. Arrangements are being handled by Smith-Varns Funeral Home at Sugarcreek. In Lieu of Flowers memorials may be made to Laurelville Mennonite Church Handicap Camp 941 Laurelville Lane, Mt. Pleasant, PA 15666. The family wishes to thank all his caregivers at Walnut Hills Nursing Home for their excellent care of Jeffrey during his 4 plus year stay there.
