MRS. JENNIE BATEMAN

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Jennie Bateman, 81, of Osage on Thursday November 19 at 2:00 p.m. at the Baptist church in Osage, Rev. George French of the Congregational church of Superior, WI, conducted the service. Mrs. Bateman passed away November 16, at Park Rapids. 
L. C. Enfield served as organist, Donald Fiskum, a nephew, as soloist was accompanied by Floraine Nielsen of Bemidji as he sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere".
Pallbearers were Glenn Bateman, Grant Bateman, David Southward, Eugene Dalzotto, and Keith Malmquist: Honorary pallbearers were Vivian Enfield, Tracy Henderson, Sadie Poole, Elizabeth Robinson, Ellen Slaughter and Alma Town. Interment was at Greenwood cemetery, Park Rapids. 

Jennie White was born April 8, 1883 at Minneapolis to Mr. & Mrs. DeWitt White. As a girl she lived at LaMoure, ND. She was united in marriage in Osage township on December 7, 1903 to Frederick William Bateman.

Surviving are two sons, Grant Bateman and Glenn Bateman both of Osage, a granddaughter, Mrs. David Southward (Barbara) of Minneapolis,; grandsons, William Bateman of Bemidji and Lyle Bateman of Osage; three nieces, Mrs. Virginia Duke of Ruston, LA, Mrs. Wayne Cochrane of Park Rapids, and Mrs. Al Swenson of Osage; and two nephews, Percy Crosby of Minneapolis and Everett Crosby of Fargo.

Mrs. Bateman lived for 65 years at Osage and for 50 years was the telephone operator in the Osage community.

Friends and relatives attending from a distance were Mrs. Carroll Duke of Ruston, LA, Mr. & Mrs. Percy Crosby of Mineapolis, Mrs. James Slaughter and Eunice Johnson of Minneapolis, Theron Johnson and Jay and Mr. & Mrs. Richard Duffing of Hastings, Mr. & Mrs. E. C. Crosby of Fargo, Bertha Christianson, Hazel Hogenson and Mr. & Mrs.  Melvin Pollish of Bemidji and Mr. & Mrs. Donald Fiskum of Bertha.
