On Sept. 23, 1909, he was married to Sara Erb, who preceded him in death Dec. 28, 1966.

Surviving are 7 children (Vernon, Elwood, Ollie--Mrs. Lester Roth, Sterling, Fern--Mrs. Wayne Potter, Maynard, and Mary Ann--Mrs. Lynn Luebbe), 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 4 brothers (Dan, John, Elmer, and Earl), and 4 sisters (Cora--Mrs. Noah Reber, Lena--Mrs. Marvin Danner, Mrs. Ida Erb, and Amelia--Mrs. Jim Barnett). He was preceded in death by one sister.

He was a member of the East Fairview Church, where funeral services were held, with Ammon Miller, Oliver Roth, and Sterling U. Stauffer officiating.
