About Jerry Wayne Johnson

Jerry W. Johnson

Jerry Wayne Johnson was unexpectedly called home to be with his Lord on April 3, 2007. Our husband, father, brother, son and friend passed away suddenly at home.

He was born on Sept. 19, 1950, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He graduated from CM Russell High School in Great Falls, and shortly thereafter joined the Air Force, serving as a medic.

In 1973, he met the love of his life, Mary, who he married in 1977.

Jerry and Mary moved to Bozeman in 1975, where Jerry studied social work and pre-med at MSU.

He was passionate about the outdoors, and loved everything and anything he could experience as one with nature, including hunting, backpacking, fishing, and camping. He so loved his guitar -– entertaining all willing kids for hours. Oh, how lucky we were to have him as our father, uncle and friend. Jerry was gifted with a kind and loving way with children, and all who were fortunate enough to enter his life loved him like a second dad.

Those who were fortunate to share his life and will miss him terribly are his gorgeous wife, Mary; his six children: David (Cheryl), Terri, Patti, Jim (Paula), Les, and Mark; and his 12 grandchildren; his parents, Kathryn and Ken "Doc" Elliott; his brothers, Jim (Sheila) Johnson, and Bob (Pat) Clark; and his sisters, Debbie (Mike) Edson, and Cheryl (Matt) Fleming.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, at the Church of Christ, 909 Nevada St., Belgrade.
