About Jesse Hiter Crouch, Jr.

Information on Jesse Crouch from an account of Ancestors & Siblings by William Anderson Crouch:

Jesse Crouch was one of the most useful citizens locally, politically, morally, religiously, and along all progressive lines to be found in Washington County, Tn.

His oldest son, William S. Crouch was beyond controversy, a man who represented a large number of the virtues of as lofty a manhood as any of the Crouch family, as far as my knowledge extends.

His brother, A. L. J. Crouch was a close second, and surpassed him in some lines of self-expression. His power of analysis, in determining the important principle in difficult and complicated questions was of a high order. His ability to commit his thoughts to written form in the most concise form, and in the most beautiful caligraphy which I have never seen equaled, much less surpassed.

His son, Elbert, was the father of Rev. Austin Crouch, a Baptist minister of more than ordinary usefulness and prominence.

There is a record in American Revolutionary War Rejected Pensions about Jesse Crouch located in Jonesboro', Washington Co., TN that says he was denied a pension because he was "Not military service."
