Jesse Danile is buried at a farm now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Danile at Pumkintown. In 1925, Denzil R. Daniel's parents bought the Sidney Farm on which stood the old house made of logs, which Al Daniels helped build in 1878 as did Louis and Edward. Denzil R. Daniel born at the farm on Cove Creek on 20 Feb 1923. he grew up adjaacent to the old Daniel House. Jesse Daniel gave farms to each of this children except George; he paid his way through medical school.

Jesse Daniel is burried at a farm now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Daniel at Pumpkintown.

Known to be a businessman.

Jesse and Sarah Moore Daniel are buried at different locations, Jesse on a farm now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Daniel, at Pumpkintown, and Sarah, on my boyhood farm where she died in 1887.

<b>3. Jesse Daniel and Sarah Moore </b> Jesse Daniel, son of Nehemiah was born in November 1826 and died on July 16, 1902, in Raleigh County. He married Sarah L. Moore, daughter of James Moore and Nancy Shumate. Sarah was born about 1827 and died July 2, 1887, in Raleigh County. Their children were Edward Henderson, Lewis, George Preston, Nancy Catherine, Mary, Albert Edward, Govenor David, and Sidney J, Daniel. -Nancy Catherine was born June 18, 1851, in Raleigh County; and she married William Anderson Jarrell, son of James Anderson Jarrell and Martha Pettry, on April 12, 1869, in Raleigh County. -Mary V. Daniel, born May 20, 1854, in Raleigh County, married J. B. Honaker. -Dr. Sidney J. Daniel was born in 1863 and died October 23, 1917, at Lester, Raleigh County. He married Ruthy Alice Cook, daughter of James Perry Cook and Julia Ann Sarrett, on May 2, 1892, in Raleigh County. Their children were Gracie, Protia, Daniel, Arthur, Estella, Orville, and Pearl. -Govenor David Daniel was born in 1860 and died August 11, 1922, in Wallowa, Oregon. He married Nancy Clementine McGinnis, daughter of Gordon McGinnis and Amelia Workman. Their family moved to Oregon. 7
-Albert Edward Daniel was born on September 29, 1858, and married Jeanette Thompson, daughter of John Thompson and Rebecca Hedrick, on October 13, 1879, in Raleigh County. Their children were William Hubert, John, Posey, Effie, Everett, Eugene, and Opal. -Dr. George Preston Daniel was born on October 24, 1868; and he died in January 1960. The Raleigh Register, Beckley, W. Va. Wednesday Afternoon, January 20, 1960 Noted County Doctor, George P. Daniel, Dies A legend of Raleigh County ended today when Dr. George P. Daniel died in Beckley Hospital. The well known country doctor once estimated he had ridden his horse "three times around the world" as he answered the call of the sick from his Glen Daniel home. Death came at 2:30 a.m. He had undergone surgery for removal of a tumor from his esophagus 14 days ago and those in attendance were amazed at his vitality after having been on the operating table for many hours. Death was attributed to complications. Born Oct. 24, 1868, a son of the Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Daniel, Coal River, he began administering to the sick and injured the day after he received his medical degree from the University of Louisville Medical School. Dr. Daniel achieved his degree the hard way - working to acquire the money to put himself through school. He did this by teaching school and not only financed his own medical school education but also made it possible for a brother, Sydney, to become a physician. In addition, he sired two generations of doctor sons. Dr. Daniel probably delivered more babies than anyone else in Raleigh County. It is only natural that he should have acquired many namesakes - but he had no idea how many. When he began his practice, he traveled the hills and valley by horseback. He had to perform hundreds of operations--most of them on kitchen tables, long before the county boasted a hospital. Devotion to medicine did not thwart his keen business sense. His father had been a successful merchant and when still a young doctor, he followed in his father's footsteps by operating a store and sometimes working in it 8
himself. He also secured several business properties both in Raleigh and Wyoming counties. An active Republican all his life, Dr. Daniel had the distinction of being the first presidential elector from Raleigh County. He cast a vote for Theodore Roosevelt in 1904. Earlier he had taken a census of Marsh Fork District in 1890, and in the same year was a delegate to the then Third Congressional District Republican convention in Hinton. When Dr. Daniel began his career, the population of Raleigh County was just over 7,000. The count is now nearly 100,000. The first utility company was formed at Glen Daniel--the Trap Hill Telephone Co., organized in the early 1900s by Dr. Daniel and a few other men. It later was sold to the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Co. Dr. Daniel served as the first noble grand of the Odd Fellows Lodge at Glen Daniel. He later became secretary of the lodge and served in the capacity for over 50 years. He married Nettie May Calaway, daughter of George Calaway and Sarah Hinchman on September 26, 1894, in Raleigh County. Both of their sons, Doff C, and Ross Preston were also doctors. -Lewis Daniel was born October 23, 1852, in Raleigh County. He married Sarah F. Ballard, daughter of James Blackburn Ballard and Evaline Workman, on February 26, 1883, in Raleigh County. Their children were Sidney Preston, Elsie, Sylvia, Dennie, J Thomas, Blaine, William, Fred, Emma, Eva, Edward, Otis, Delos, and Daniel. -Edward Henderson Daniel was born August 7, 1856, in Raleigh County and died November 21, 1931, in Raleigh County. He was a retired miner and retained an interest in community affairs. He married Julia Catherine Snuffer on August 14, 1878, in Raleigh County. Julia's parents were Owen Snuffer and Cleopatra Terry. Their children were Governor Lacy, Emmet J., Lakie, Frank L., Oscar C., Ashton H., Garner P., Jesse E., Carrie, Cody, Russell Giles, and Crockett H. Daniel.
