WORLD WAR I
Son of Richard Rhodes and Mary Elizabeth Floyd Flowers, husband of Leila Mincey.
FLORENCE - Jesse Lee Flowers, 82, retired ACL conductor, died Saturday night in a local hospital after a short illness. He had been a citizen of Florence since 1914 and resided at 757 W. Evans Street. Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Waters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. E. Paul McWhirter officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Mr. Flowers, a native of Barnesville, NC, was born June 27, 1886, a son of the late Richard and Mary Floyd Flowers. Mr. Flowers was a graduate of Campbell Junior College, Buie Creek, NC, and was an Army veteran of World War I. He was a member of Central Methodist Church and the Pendergrass Bible Class of the Church. He was also a member of the ACL Retired Men's Club and the Pee Dee Men's Garden Club. Mr. Flowers retired from the railroad in 1955 with 40 years service.
