Johan was shot several times around 22:00 in the kitchen of the house he and his wife rented on one of the Mooivallei smallholdings.

The police have not yet been able to determine the motive for this mysterious murder, said Insp. Wilmarie van der Merwe, police spokesperson, said. The house was not broken into, but the front door may have been open.

Van der Merwe said an autopsy will be done next week to determine how many times Meyer was shot. He was hit in the legs and torso. Beeld learns that Meyer was a partner in a company that installs CCTV cameras.
