Immigrated: 1818 to Molotschna Colony, South Russia In the 1835 Molotschna Colony Census he is listed at Rudnerweide #7, the home of his father. He moved from Rudnerweide in 1839 to the crown village of Novo-Grigoryevka where he owned an oil mill and a windmill per the 1852 List of People Living Outside the Molotschna Colony. He died on the home place in Mountain Lake, MN. One record says he died 12 Jun 1875 (6/12 vs. 12/6). Mountain Lake p. 7: died at 66 yrs, 2 mo, 20 days.

The John Fast farm, Midway Township - Sec. 18 - N.W. Quarter, had Fast descendants living on the farm until several years ago. At present (2000), Dean Harder lives on this place. It is located 3+ miles north of Mt. Lake on Co. Road *1 to Co. Road *3 - then west about 3 miles. The farm place is on the south side of Co. Road *3 with a long driveway. The Fast son, Heinrich, planted a poplar tree at the grave site - his father is also buried there. The tree is still standing today would be over 100 years old- it is at the southwest corner of the farmyard.
