About Johann Peter N Fast
- Note: He was a member of the Pordenau Church in Russia. His surname is incorrectly given as Vost on the NY arrival list for the Nederland.
- Johann Fast III Book (1763-1963) - page 89. 1901 Canada census says he was born 21 Mar 1847, age 54. Age 36 in 1880 census.
- Katharina Fast was born October 28, 1843 in a village of Molotschna Colony, Ukraine, Russia. Here she also went to school. At about 10 years of age she moved with her parents to the farm at Jurtemalee, 10 miles northwest of Berjansk. She was ma rried to Johann Fast (called Miller Fast) probably in 1871. They left Russia the same time as her parents for Mt. Lake, MN and lived a few months with the parents and then moved a mile or so on a farm northwest. They had a flour and feed mil l as the name indicates. He had a very strong voice and she was hard of hearing. They retained their membership in the Hochfeld Church, later Nickel Church, now Gospel Mennonite. They often visited at the Jacob A. Walls. She was a close frien d of her sister, Elizabeth (Mrs. Wall). Sara, Anna, Katharina, and David were born here. About 1900 they moved to Waldheim, SK, Canada, where she passed away September 19, 1907.
