About Johann Friedrich Langenbeck

Johann Friedrich Langenbeck, born 28 August 1814 Harburg, Donau-Reis, Bavaria, was a German cobbler who immigrated to Boston, Massachusetts on 11 August 1843 at the age of 32. He married Anna Marie Hornung (30 March 1828 (former Swabia), Wurttemberg (present-day Baden-Wurttemberg), Germany - 24 April 1902 San Francisco, California) at Boston in 1849, and became a naturalized US citizen in Boston on 15 October 1852. After the birth of their son Fredrick in 1863, the family went by ship to Nicaragua, crossed the isthmus on mule-back, and set sail for San Francisco. They arrived in San Francisco on 17 March 1866, later settling in Central California. Johann died on 3 December 1903 in San Luis Obispo, California at the age of 89.
