About Johanna O'Neil

Thomas Lynch and Brigid Shea were sponsors at her baptism.

Brigid Shea may have been Johanna's aunt who was born in Ballymartin. It was unlikely that it was her older sister as she was only 12 yrs old at the time.
As I mention elsewhere Brigid was a name that was used in both James and Michael's families.

Daniel O'Neill married Johanna O'Shea in 1890 . Marriage recorded in Inistioge RC.

Witnesses at the marriage were Richard Gallavan, The Rower and Joanna Hanrahan, Ballynunnery .

It is interesting that none of Johanna's sisters were bridesmaid at this wedding. Brigid was certainly alive at this time.Mary, Ellen and Margaret were three other sisters.

Richard Gallavan was related to Daniel O ' Neil because the 1911 Census states that Mary Gallavan who was living in the house at that time with Daniel was his niece.

I have no idea who the Joanna Hanrahan from Ballynunnery was.

Johanna O Neill had died before 1901 as the Census of that year indicates that Daniel was a widower in 1901 . He was head of the family and aged 49 then.

Katie Byrne,Servant, RC.,Age?, Gen. servant, not married was living in the household when the census was taken.

Daniel and Johanna O'Neill's daughter ,Bridget, was dead by this time also. She died on 04/05/1892. She was one year old.
