from Nancy Reed: son Jacob Goetschius 1790 son Joseph Goetschius m. (Sarah) Mary Catherine Brannan son Howard Brannan Goetschius 1857-1935 b. "Downsville son L. Berdan Goetschius author "The Goetschius Family in America" by Wm. Heidgerd of New Paltz.In it he has work by L. Berdan Goetschius of Great Barrington, MA, 1971 detailing his research on our ancestors brother (in the New Paltz Public Library). L. Berdan Goetschius' text tells how his sister Vera applied to join the DAR. Their father Howard Brannan was helping her. He said, "My father was Joseph Goetschius, he married Sarah Catherine Brannon, who was herself descended from Revolutionary ancestry, who I have understood, received some portion of the Colden Estate as a rewrd for services in the war - that being confiscated because Cadwallader was a British Colonial Governor of New York." He follows with an extensive history of John Mauritius Goetschiuis' service in the Rev. War including letters to and from Gen. Go. Washington.
