About Johannes Mayer (Hans May)
Well-known Austrian/English composer. According to most online information, including German and English Wikipedia, he was born Johannes Mayer, but for commercial purposes changed his name to Hans May. From 1934 onwards he made his home in London, England, latterly at 55 Park Lane London W1. He died in the early hours of 1 January 1959 [or according to some sources 31 December 1958] at the Hotel la Réserve, Beaulieu-sur-Mer, France, and is buried in the cemetery there. He is known for several hit songs including Mein Lied geht um die Welt" [My Song goes round the World], at least one musical [Wedding in Paris] and the music for numerous films, of which perhaps the most notable are Brighton Rock, Mayerling and Never Let Me Go. http://www.allmusic.com/artist/hans-may-mn0001762682/biography http://www.landrucimetieres.fr/spip/spip.php?article3893
