About Johannes Jacob Riegel

Johannes Jacob lived near his father in the early 1770s as his children born at that time were baptized by Rev Daniel Schumacher who served the settlers who lived along the Blue Mountain. When he first bought property in Northumberland County in 1790, he gave his residence as Lynn Township, Northampton (now Lehigh) County, Pennsylvania, which is adjacent to Greenwich Township, Berks County, where his father George William had lived. It is not known if he owned property there. He left around 1811 for Ohio, where his oldest son John George lived. Barabara Riegel's "Riegel Family History" published in 1993, deals with this family line: it is available from Carl R. Riegel.
