At Vishoek 1761-62, quartermaster at Vishoek 1763-66, superintendent at Groene Kloof 1767-84, b. 1784. ~ 7.2.1768 Johanna Ermina Olwagen. 3 children. (GMR 1761-84; Rq.1784: 16; G.R. nr. 855; Test. CJ 1094: 7.)
- Dr. J. Hoge, Personalia of the Germans at the Cape, 1652-1806, Archives Year Book for South African History (Cape Town: Government Printer, Union of South Africa, 1946)
The "Geslacht-Register der Oude Kaapsche Familien" compiled by CC de Villiers list three children for Johanna Hermina Olweg and Johannes Diederik Schreuder:
- Johannes Hendrik Schreuder ~17/04/1772
- Johanna Maria (~01/05/1774)
- Dirk Andries (~03/07/1781)
However, Johanna Hermina Schreuder (nee Olweg/Olwagen) passed away in 1771 already.
- CJ 2625 7 OLWEG, JOHANNA ERMINA. TESTAMENT. 1771
- MOOC 7/1/28 52 OLWEG, JOHANNA ERMINA. WIFE OF JOHANNES SCHREUDER. WILL. 1771
This means that Johanna Hermina Olweg could not have been the mother of the 2nd and 3rd children.
The view of Johanna Hermina Olweg not being the mother of the 2nd and 3rd children is supported by the following:
Sophia Olweg, sister of Johanna Hermina Olweg (Olwagen) died intestate and her estate were left to her remainging siblings from the same mother as well as the son (Johannes Hendrik Schreuder then 19 years old) of Johanna Hermina Olweg and Johannes Diederik Schreuder who were both deceased by 06/12/1791, the time the estate of Sophia was finalised. Given the rules about inheritance from a person dying intestate, the 2nd and 3rd child should also have inherited from Sophia together with Johannes Hendrik, except if they were not Sophia’s sister’s children or also deceased by 1791.

Further support for the idea that the 2nd and 3rd children were not Johanna Hermina Olweg’s children, is the following: Assuming that Johanna Hermina Olweg and Johannes Diederik Schreuder followed the tradition of naming the children after the their own parents, one can deduce that Johannes Hendrik is possible a Schreuder name, but Johanna Maria or Dirk Andries does not seem to be Olweg/Olwagen names.
