About John, 1st Baron Sutton of Holderness

Notes: Baron Sutton by Writ, 20 Jul, 1332. Summoned to parliment, from 20 Jul 1332, to 15 Nov 1338, in which latter year he died. His son and heir, John Sutton, 2nd baron, held the manor of Sutton "de Domina Isabella filia Domini Regis", and was summoned to parliment, from 25 Aug 1339, to 20 Apr 1344, and again 3 Apr, 1360. He d.s.p. in 1362, his brother, Sir Thomas Sutton, Knt., being his heir. This Sir Thomas left three daus. co-heiresses, viz., Margery, m. Peter, 6th Lord Mauley; Agnes, m. lst, to Edmund Hastings, and 2ndly, to Ralph de Bulmer; and Constance, m. to John Goddard.

Sir John Sutton, later Lord Sutton, held Atwick as ? knight's fee from William de Ros, Lord Ros. John (d. by 1338) was succeeded in turn by his sons, John Sutton, Lord Sutton (d. 1356) and Thomas Sutton, Lord Sutton (d. by 1395).
