Funeral services for John Milton Akin, 71, of Greensburg, Ky., will be at 10 a.m. CST Friday, Aug. 14, at Cowhead and Parrott Funeral Home, Greensburg. He died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, at Kindred Hospital, Louisville.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

JOHN MILTON AKIN, 71, Greensburg, Kentucky, died Saturday, August 8 at Kindred Hospital in Louisville.
He was a self-employed Artist in the South Western part of the United States and a landscaper while living in Arizona. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force stationed in Alaska.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Bernard Akin; grandparents, Alvin "Jake" Anderson Akin and Betty Sharp Akin and great-grandparents, Sam and Mary Walker Akin.
Survivors include two sisters, Betty Katherine Akin-Smith of Sellersburg and Lucy Akin-Kinsley of Lanesville; two brothers, Ronald Akin of Greensburg, Kentucky and Dr. Daniel Phillip Akin of Floyds Knobs; sister-in-law, Geraldine Sowder-Akin of Greensburg, Kentucky and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be held Friday, August 14 at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial in Akin Family Cemetery located at Akin Narrows of Pitman Creek Road on Ronald Akin Farm.

Mr. John Milton Akin of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late Leonard T. Akin and Mary L. Gerdon Akin, was born on January 15, 1938 in Green County, Kentucky and departed this life on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at the Kindred Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. He was 71 years, six months and 24 days of age.
He was a self-employed Artist in the South Western part of the United States and a landscaper while living in Arizona. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force stationed in Alaska.
Mr. Akin was also preceded in death by a brother: Leonard Akin; his grandparents: Alvin “Jake” Anderson Akin and Betty Sharp Akin; and his great-grandparents were: Sam and Mary Walker Akin.
