John Walter Bennett

Mr. John Walter Bennett, age 84, of Salem, WV, (formerly of Arlington Addition) departed this life at 5:55 P. M. Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. He was born in Preston County, WV, September 21, 1926, a son of the late James Bennett and Esta Helmick Bennett.

His wife, Delores Mildred Poe Bennett, preceded him in death February 15, 2004.

Surviving are: three daughters & sons-in-law, Brenda & Allen Cochran, Townsend, DE, Janet McKinney & Robert McBride, San Leon, TX, and Tammy & Dale See, Salem, WV, with whom he made his home, five grandchildren, Amy & husband, Tracy Mears, Clayton, DE, Jason & wife, Leanne Cochran, Smyrna, DE, Paul McKinney, Del Ray Beach, FL, Jennell & Roger Connelly, Waldorf, MD, and John & Katrina See, four great grandchildren, Brianna & Alyssa Mears, Clayton, DE, Olivia See, Salem, WV & Eden Connelly, Waldorf, MD, three brothers, Paul Bennett, St. Augustine, FL,Clarence (Eddie) Bennett, St. Pauls, NC & Lindy Bennett, Quiet Dell, WV, four sisters & spouses, Mrs. Mick (Dorothy) Drake, Morgantown, WV, Mrs. Okey (Helen) Burton, Arlington Addition, Clarksburg, WV, Elettra Morgan, Winchester, VA & Mrs. George (Evelina) Ashcraft, Quiet Dell, WV.

Mr. Bennett also preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Bennett, Robert Bennett & Harry Bennett and by three sisters, Dora Lantz, Linda Bennett & Sherry Bennett.

Mr. Bennett was a member of Carpenters Union Local # 0476 for 45 years, working last for Marks Construction Company.

Mr. Bennett was a member of the Arlington Abundant Life Church and was a retired carpenter.

Friends may call at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home , 329 East Main Street, Clarksburg from 12:00 Noon to 8:00 P. M. on Friday, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 1:00 P. M. with the Reverend Robert Wilson presiding. Interment will follow in Bridgeport Cemetery.
