John Boone fought in the Battle of Long Island and throughout the Revolutionary War. He was wounded in the Battle of Eutaw on September 8, 1781 but not seriously enough to prevent him from the Battle of Yorktown just one month later.
Family lore says that "among the officers of the Continental Army in the "Surrender of Cornwallis," one of the four pictures in the Rotunda of the Capitol in Washington, D.C. is the portrait of John Boone.
