About John de Bovington
John de Bovington (Bointon), died circa 1326 and his Inquisition post mortem took place the following year. The inquisition post mortem makes no mention of the mother of his two children, Walter and Richard. However, it is likely that the mother of his sons would have been Hawise de Boulton, whom he had divorced in 1313.
The Inquisition post mortem states:
(IV) JOHN DE BOVINGTON, [1323-1326], son of Sir Robert de Bovington, entered into the inheritance of his father at Hunmanby in chief, and entered therein without licence, but the King granted him this by fine of 403.' In 1323 he granted a messuage and land in Boynton and Rud- stone to a chaplain in the Church of St. Andrew, Boynton, to celebrate divine service for himself and the souls of his parents and ancestors, but he apparently did not live to see this accomplished.2
