John Brown, baptized at Hawkedon, October 11, 1601, son of John, elder brother of Richard Browne, arrived in the "Lion," September 16, 1632; settled in Watertown; was admitted freeman September 3, 1634, and was buried June 20, 1636, age 36.

FROM NEW ENGLAND FAMILIES by William Richard Cutter John Brown born Oct 11, 1601 in Hakendon, England, son of John Brown arrived in New England in the ship LION 16 Sept 1632 and settled in Watertown, Mass where he was admitted a freeman Sept. 3, 1634. He was buried there 20 June, 1636. His wife was named Dorothy and most of their children were born in England.

Buried at Watertown 20 June 1636 "aged 36 years." Came from Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire to Massachusetts Bay in 1632 on the "Lyon" & settled in Watertown.
Married by 1634 Dorothy _____ (she was named in the birth record of both daughters, and in the death record of her husband); probably married (2) William Potter of Watertown, who moved in 1645 to Stamford.
John Brown was brother of ABRAHAM BROWN of Watertown, of Edmund Brown of Boston by 1634, and almost certainly of Hannah, the wife of MATTHEW INES.
