John C. Brumleve Passed way Wednesday
Was Ove 80 Years of Age. Funeral Will Be Held Friday At 9 O'clock AM
John C. Brumleve died at 'his home in Teutopolis, Illinois, Wednesday morning at 9:25 o'clock, November 19, 1930, of an illness of only about week's duration. Attained age 80 years, 9 months and 4 days.
Funeral services will be held at St Francis Church, Friday morning at 9 o'clock. Internment in parish Cemetery. Deceased was a loyal member of St Peter's Men's Sodality, who attended the obsequies in a body.
Deceased was born in Teutopolis, February 15, 1850, being the son of Clemens Brumleve and Frances Grove pioneer settlers of Teutopolis who immigrated from Lengerich, Hannover in 1846 first to Cincinnati, Hamilton, Ohio, USA then to Teutopolis.
Mr. Brumleve attended the Village schools and then learned the cabinet, and carpenter trade which he practiced until a week ago when he became ill. Deceased was an active, conscientious man in all his dealings with his fellow-men and customers.
Grownup to manhood he was married to Hiss Katharine Schumacher, January 6th, 1874. This union was blessed with nine children. Three died in Infancy and Mary in 1908 at the age of 28 years. Five are living.
Deceased is survived his his wife; three sons: Clem Brumleve Franz Brumleve and Albert Brumleve all of Teutopolis, two daughters: Mrs Clem (Clara) Hoedebecke of Granite City, III., Mrs. Frank (Johanna) Ruholl of Lillyville, seventeen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers: Alexander Brumleve and Henry Brumleve and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Rau all of Teutopolis and a number of nephews and nieces. Three brothers preceded him to the Great Beyond: Dr. Joseph Brumleve died in Teutopolis, January 5th, 1912, Frank Brumleve in 1913 at Red Bud, Ill, and Rev August Brumleve, died March 11, 1930 at Teutopolis. Father Brumleve was pastor of St John the Baptist Church at Red Bud, for more than forty-five years and is buried there.
