This is from “The History of the Canaday & Cannaday Family; 1600-1928; Indianapolis, IN; C. M. Cannaday, 1928, page 3 "1 John Canaday, born Jan 25, 1741, son of Charles (V-1) married in April 1764 to Margaret Thornburg. Joined Lost Creek M.M. in Tenn. when they went there from N.C. See Enc. Quaker Gen. page 1101. They had certificate from New Garden M.M. in N.C. David Crockett worked for him on the farm. See Crockett's Autobiography. Crockett spelled the name "Kennedy," and this fact also handed down in Canaday recollections.
