About John Carter

From Colin Allen Carter's notes, as relayed by son Daniel:
Annie Maria Green Bashforth: b. 1856, d. Cape Town 1930. m. in Cape Town +/- 1872 to John Carter: b. Glasgow 1851, d. Cape Town [? - see below] 1908

Note: No South African death record for that year (searched index 1834-1912). Date of death only is on his widow's death certificate, not place, and it is noted "No trace". It seems possible that he died elsewhere, but no record has as yet been found.
