A Chipman genealogy, circa 1583-1969, beginning with John Chipman (1620-1708), by John Hale Chipman, pp. 14, 27. John Chipman was born June 30, 1728 in Barnstable, Mass.; d. after 1764. He lived some time in Middletown, Conn, then removed to Strafford, Conn. He was a farmer and tavern-keeper. On Nov. 9,1752, he married Anna Mattocks of Middletown.
