Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church (Dunbar, Pennsylvania) John Clark, served as an elder in the church before the Clark family moved to Iowa in 1856. The original church was a simple log structure and was built by Scotch-Irish immigrants.

In the book "Empty Mansions" it says that John was born in Dunbar, Fayette Co., Pennsylvania where his father had a farm.
