John D. Cook, 63, of Calhoun, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
John was born February 14, 1951 in Ramsey, Illinois, the son of Tony and Ida (Manley) Cook. He married Charlotte "Kellie" Bussard on September 16, 1978 in Olney.
John worked for and retired from Verizon after 37 years of service. He raised Clydesdale horses and thoroughly enjoyed it for 29 years. He placed horses in hitches all over the country. Several of the horses that he raised became champion show horses. He was President of the Parkersburg Community Club and took part in many of the fundraising events. John was a father that never missed a ballgame, a concert, or activity that his children participated in. He was a very generous person putting others' needs before his own.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kellie Cook of Calhoun; Son, John D. Fulk and wife Nona of Bloomington, IL; Son, Britton H. Fulk and wife Heather of Evansville, IN; Son, Christopher D. Cook; Grandchildren, Gabe, Sabrina, Emily, Austin, Olivia, and Johnathan; Brothers, Joe Cook, Jerry Cook, and Jack Cook; Sister, Janet Cook; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister.
Services at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery.
