John was the son of William H. & Ruth "Janie" Cogburn Cramer.

"He was b. Oct. 3, 1889, at Long Valley, Idaho. He later moved with his parents to Gross. He was a mail carrier at Ola and a forest ranger for the Payette Natl Forest. He moved to Emmett in 1925 where he was employed by the Bureau of Reclamation. In 1943 he moved to Hawaii and to Gillcrest, Oregon in 1945, where he was employed in the lumber indrusty until he retired in 1953 and returned to Emmett the next year." -- Messenger Index, Mar 6, 1969
