John is not a son of Lawrence as the 1940 Census states

I remember that there were cousins that lived with our mothers' family - they were "Junior" and "Patsy." I believe their parents (perhaps Michael (grandma's brother's children) were killed in an automobile accident. Uncle Lawrence was very close to Junior and the two of them usually palled around together. Patsy is kind of a family mystery or secret - I think she wound up in a mental hospital on Long Island, maybe near Brentwood. No one talked about her for some reason, maybe in that day and age they were ashamed of mental illness. Brian Tammany
