John was the son of John and Lydia Evans Sr. His parents came to America from Wales in 1695.

In 1722 John married Jane Howell. She was the daughter of Reynold & Mary [George] Howell.

John and Jane had 6 children:

John Evans, Jr. settled at the mill in London Britain in 1722. He died April 14, 1738, and his father, now “being ancient," about the year 1740.

On 4 August 1725 the land for the London Tract Church & Cemetery was donated by John Evans Sr. The Evans family was prominent in the early membership of this church.
