About John Patrick GAVIN

John Gavin was a professional golfer. He enlisted in the US Navy on July 15, 1918 during WWI. He received an ordinary discharge on August 8, 1919, as a Seaman second class on account of termination of hostilities.
Occupations included Office Boy in 1915 , Clerk at a Brush Company in 1920, Letter carrier in 1925 at age 26 where he lived with his wife Lucille and 2-year old son John Jr. and finally Golf Pro in 1930. John retired as the Golf Pro at the Columbia Country Club in Columbia, Missouri.
John loved to golf and to read the newspaper. He was a devout Roman Catholic. He liked traveling and watching TV sports. He was also knows as a card shark and loved to play poker or gin rummy. He predominately drove Rambler automobiles.
He died of a heart attack at age 86.
