

JOHN3 GATES (Joseph2, George1) born September 20, 1698 in Haddam, CT, according to East Haddam records, but the Haddam record reads September 20, 1699. The first is probably correct. He married, April 19, 1722, his cousin SARAH FULLER, born in East Haddam, August 7, 1702, daughter of Timothy3 Fuller (Samuel2, Matthew1) and his wife, Sarah Gates. They settled in Westchester, Town of Colchester, before November 24, 1726. They were members of the church in Westchester at an early date, and he was elected deacon, May 16, 1740, being the third deacon in that church. He died in Westchester, June 8, 1775, “a little before sunrise.” She died in Westchester, August 25, 1784.

He died in Westchester, 8 June 1775, "a little before sunrise." She died in Westchester, 25 Aug 1784.
