About John George
The George family arrived at Sydney on January 6, 1853. They were free settlers on the Beejapore. Two of their children died during the voyage. Among the 911 immigrants on the ship were about 200 weavers from Paisley. Ship was in quarantine until Feb 9.
The family first lived in The Rocks area of Sydney until leaving for the Bingara district in 1857. The daughters married in Sydney and the parents and younger family members moved back and forth between Sydney and rural areas north west of Sydney.
I removed the death location of Western Australia because I believe this John George has been confused with his relative John Ernest George who did die in Western Australia. When and where the John George, of this profile died, is not yet known. ...
