About John Golding

notes

From http://www.wdgolden.com/genes/2013/04/03/1705-1782-john-william-gol...

John and Cassandra had three sons, most often claimed to be: William (1704-1782),  James Golding (1705-1748) and Simon Golding (1717-1789).  There are no identified descendents for James Golding. However, Simon went forward and was fruitful with three sons and three daughters. Of Simon’s sons, only Jesse Golding has a documented lineage

Research on the Ancestry of William Golding (1704-1782) of Orange County, Virginia and Ninety-Six District, South Carolina by Captain Ed Dittmer, USN, Maryland Notes Contains research completed by Captain Ed Dittmer, professional researcher, on the ancestors and descendants of William Golding (1704-1782). Documents the lineage of William Golding to John Golding, Born in 1635 in England.

Dittmer states that John Golding, age 16, probably came over as an indentured servant. He states that Richard Ripley brought over eight persons to Gloucester County in 1651, with John Golding being one of them, as noted by the land patent by Richard Ripley. Dittmer suggests that Richard became related to John Golding through the marriage of his daughter to John Golding. (p.1-2)
