About John Starling Goodbread
This son of Phillip Goodbread Jr. and Catherine, was born in Camden County, Georgia, on Cumberland Island, about 1798 and died in Suwannee County, Florida, August 18, 1875. By occupation he was a planter. He served in the War of 1812, in Lieutenant Scott's detachment of Camden County Militia, Jan. 15th to Mar. 5th, 1815. In 1822 – 24, he served as 1st Lieutenant Camden County Militia. In 1845 he joined relatives, sister Priscilla and brothers Adam and Jacob in the trek to Suwannee Valley, Florida. About 1817 in Camden County, he married Charity Crews, born 1796 in Beaufort District, South Carolina, daughter of Mary and Micajah Crews. She died in Florida, about 1857.
