About John Guild Gordon

John was a Choirmaster. My Aunt Phyllis recollected there were family choirs. My cousin Gwen Fowler, Phyllis's daughter, has a song book signed in the cover by John G Gordon, Southgate June 16th 1868. The title was The tonic Sol-Fa Reporter and magazine of vocal music for the people Vols XXXVII, XXXVIII. Printed London, the Tonic Sol-Fa Agency, 8 Warwick EC, Price 3/-.

Phyllis recalled when she was a girl that they would go to Grandma's for Christmas. Each person was required to perform in song, poetry etc before they were given their gifts.

Phyllis also recalled that her mum was a gentle lady, but lived hard. Her father went to the races. There was a cat called Kelly.
