John M. Gotschall

The love that John M. Gotschall had for his children and family was a pure love. When troubles arose he was always there to help, and when goals were attained or hopes realized he would be there to revel with them in their joys.
John found this same happiness when working on his farm and ranch, supporting local school activities, or just playing cards with his friends.

Mr. Gotschall, 64, of Custer, died early Saturday morning at St. Vincent's Hospital of cancer.

He was born in Hysham, MT., a son of Frank and Alta Gotschall.
He lived and went to school there until moving with his family to Columbus, MT., his junior year of high school.
After graduating in Columbus, he joined the Army, was discharged in 1947 and then attended the University of Montana.
In 1948, he returned to help his uncle and grandfather on the family farm and ranch near Custer.

On June 4, 1960, John married Frances Graham in Big Timber, MT.
They built a house on the family land and made that his home until the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Gary of Custer, MT.; two daughters, Janie Gotschall of Bozeman, MT. and Mrs. Rich (Sharon) Prokop of Custer; his mother, Alta of Columbus, MT., a sister, Mrs. George (Ruth) Scott of Missoula, MT.; his brother-in-law; Jim graham of Big Timber; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be in the Custer Congregational Church at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Interment to follow in the Custer Cemetery, Custer, MT.
