John Gregory, 1793-1878, was my great, great, great grandfather. The following are pieces of information that I have on him and may be of help.

History of Addison Co., VT: John Gregory, a native of North Carolina, and a soldier of the War of 1812, came to this town in 1814, settling on the farm now owned by James Gregory. Vermont records from 1871-1909: John died 85 years, 0 months, 13 days on 19 Oct 1878 of Paralysis in Ferrisburgh. No parents info listed. It listed birthplace as ?? Camden Co NC?? Obit states John was from Camden Co., NC. John was a sailor not a soldier and he enlisted in NYC - from an article written about him, he ran away to sea when he was young. Est date of birth: Oct. 6, 1793.

In 1820 in Ferrisburg, VT, John Gregory lived on one side of Jacob V. Curler and Obadiah Allen lived on the other side. 2. Polly & Esther probably daughters of Jacob V. Curler 3. Esther was 1st wife of Obadia Allen. FYI: In the list of children, the number, after each 'C', identifies 1st or 2nd wife as mother.
