About John Vine Hall
John Vine Hall (1774-1860) A Maidstone bookseller and advocate for temperance. Proprietor and printer of the Maidstone Journal. As a reformed alcoholic and convert to Christianity he wrote The Sinner's Friend 1821, which had 356 editions and was translated into 30 languages. His autobiography is called Conflict and Victory.
