JOHN HARDESTY 1800-1885 John Hardesty, Edmund's fourth child, was born in 1800 and died 16 Sept. 1885.

This is the obituary taken from the "Coshocton Age" newspaper at the library in Coshocton, Ohio, dated Sept. 19, 1885, a weekly paper.

"Mr. John Hardesty, an old time resident of the township, died at his home near the home of Gilmore Masten. He was born with the century and was 85 years old at his death.

He was three times married and the father of 18 children. His present wife, who now mournes his loss has been his companion for 48 years. Mr. Hardesty is well known through this country for his earnest piety and old time zeal and enthusiasm. One of his old time "amens" would frighten a modern Methodist congregation to death. Mr. Hardesty, though suffering great pain, died as he lived, an earnest, honest, conscientious, enthusiastic Christian.

He will be buried at Chalfant Cemetery Thursday afternoon.
