About John Jacob Henning

IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I Jacob Hening of Bethel Township in the County of Lancaster and province of Pennsylvania Yeoman being weak in Body but of perfect mind and Memory blessed be God for his Mercies I publish and make this my last Will and Testament this Eleventh Day of December 1768 In manner and form as followeth First I order & Allow all my Just Debts to be paid out of my Estate after my decease IMPRIMUS I will and bequeath to my Eldest son Mathias Henning my Plantation whereon I now liveth for the sum of three Hundred pounds lawful money of Pensylvania and the Money is to be equally divided amongst my Children from the eldest to the Youngest and I do allow my said son Mathias five shillings sterling over and above an equal share and it is my will and allow the Money to be paid in five Equal Gales and the whole to be paid in five year after my decease and if my said Son Mathias Hening refuse it at the price then it is my Will and I order it so that of any of my other Son may have it aforesaid IMPRIMUS I will and allow my beloved Wife Mary the Little House & 
Meadow and Little Field and the House must be repaird and a Little Stable built and Oven and the Fence must be set Straight and the fence must be the Line and I allow her twelve Bushels of Wheat and five Bushels of Apples and a quarter of Acre of Good flax Ground sowed and that yearly and every Year during her Dower and she shall have her Bed and Furniture one Little Table two Pewter Basons her Choise of one Cow and one heffer & one sheep and one Shoat Two Pewter Plates three Pewter Spoons one Iron Pott and one Iron Pan IM: I will make Constitute and appoint my Trusty Friend Adam Harper & Peter Ryver of Hanover Township to be my Sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament To act and manage the same according to the true Intent and meaning thereof IN WITNESS whereof I Have hereunto set my hand & seal

Hebeling and Samuel Jones the two subscribing witnesses to the within Will and the said Nicholas Hebeling on his Corporal Oath and the said Samuel Jones on his Solemn Affirmation did declare and say that they were present and saw and heard Jacob Henning the Testator within named sign Seal publish pronounce and declare the within Writing as and for his Last Will and Testament and that at the doing thereof he was of sound will disposing mind memory and understanding to the best of their Knowledge Observation & Belief

BE IT REMEMBERED that on the 18th day of February Anno Domini 1769 The Last Will and Testament of Jacob Henning late of Bethel Township in the County of Lancaster Yeoman deceased was proved in due Form of Law and thereof was appointed Adam Harper and Peter

Ryver Executors who have Both by their certain Deed of Renunciation bearing date the twenty seventh Day of January one thousand seven hundred & sixty nine Duly executed and filed in the Registers Office at Lancaster renounced all their Right of Executorship on the Estate of the same Testator and Letters of Administration were granted to Maria Hening to the uses in the said Testament mentioned the said Maria Henning having first Given Bond of the said decedent to the uses in the said Testament mentioned and to exhibit a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the Goods & Chattles Rights and Credits of the said decedent into the Registers at Lancaster on or before the 18th day of March next and to render a true and Just Account of her Administration on or before the 18th day of March which will be in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy Given under the seal of the said Office

AT AN ORPHAN'S COURT held at Lancaster for the County of Lancaster on the 11th day of May Anno Domini 1771. Before Emanuel Carpenter, James Burd, and James Bickham Esquires, Justices of the Same Court. 

AT THE INSTANCE and request of Mathias Henning Eldest son of Jacob Henning, deced. IT IS ORDERED that a Citation do issue to Anna Maria Henning, Administratrix of all & Singular the Goods and Chattles Right and Credits with the Testament annexed which were of the said Jacob Henning deceased to appear at an Orphan's Court to be held at Lancaster for the County of Lancaster on Tuesday the fourth day of June next, next then and there to Settle and Pass the Account of her Administration on the Estate of the said deceased so that distribution be made thereon Agreeable to the Last Will and Testament of the said Jacob Henning deceased and to Abide the Judgement of the same Court.

Mary by the Guardian of the said Children out of their respective Estates for their Cloathing Maintenance and Education until this Time.

UPON THE PETITION OF MARY HENNING Administratrix with the Testament Annexed of Jacob Henning late of Bethel Township deceased Setting forth that the said Jacob Henning died Seized and Possessed in Fee of and in a Certain House and Lot of Ground lying in a Town called Williamsburg in the Township aforesaid also an Out Lot lying near the said Town Containing about three Acres with the Appurtenances and thereof made no disposition in his will, but as to the Same died Intestate, leaving Twelve Children, seven whereof are Yet Minors under the Age of twenty one Years, That the Personal Estate of the said deceased is not sufficient to Pay off and discharge his Debts by the Sum of L 35..0..4 having upon the Settlement of her Administration Account only a Ballance of L 100..19..8 in her hands and there being yet a Bond due to John Sheffer of L 100..0..0 Principal with Six Years Interest, and Praying the Court to make and Order impowering her to Sell and Convey the said House and Lot of Ground and the said Out Lot or so much thereof as to the Court should deem necessary to enable her to Pay off and discharge the Debts of the said deceased and bring up and maintain and educate his Children Agreeable to the Acts of Assembly of this Province in such Case made and Provided and the said Petitioner being duly Qualified to the Truth of the Accounts by her exhibited to the Court. IT IS CONSIDERED by the Court and ordered that the said Mary Henning do on Saturday the Twentieth day of June Instant expose to Sale by Way of Public Vendue the House and Lot of Ground and the Cut Lot mentioned in the said Petition with their Appurtenances to enable her to Pay off and discharge the Debts of the said deceased & c. and the Court further orders that the said Sale be held on the Premises the Proper Notices be given thereof according to Law and that the Petitioner make Report of her Proceedings to the next Orphan's Court & [nothing further on this appearance copied by Lancaster County Archives]

PURSUANT to an Order of this Court of the Fourth day of June last past Mary Henning Administratrix of all Singular and Goods and Chattles Rights and Credits with the Will Annexed which were of jacob Henning deceased doth now Report to the Court That agreeable to the said Order She did on Saturday the Twentieth Day of June aforesaid expose to Sale the House and Lot of Ground lying in a Town called Williamsburg in the Township aforesaid Also the Lot lying near the said Town containing about three Acres with their Appurtenances part of the Estate of the said deceased, by way of Public Vendue and at the said Sale (which was held on the Premises and of which due & Legal Notice was given as by the said Order and the Acts of Assembly are directed) did Sell the same House and Lot of Ground and the said Out lot with their Appurtenances unto Michael Krehl of the Township of Bethel aforesaid Shopkeeper for the Sum of twenty six pounds and ten

Shillings lawful Money of Pennsylvania he the said Michael Krehl being the best and highest bidder at the said Sale for the same:- [?] Which said Robert being read and considered, is confirmed and approved of by the Court, and ordered to be and remain firm and Stable forever.
