John Henry Rabe

J. Heinrich Rabe was the father of Friedrich and Heinrich. A photo of Friedrich's brother Heinrich (and wife Sophie) appears in a book of St. John's families. The biography alongside it tells a little of the Rabe parents as well.

The first marriage in the St. John records is that of Heinrich Rabe and Sophie Ohlensehl on April 19, 1850. Heinrich was born August 24, 1812, at Brunnenborstel, Hannover. He left for America in 1840 and came to Freedom Township in March 1841. His brother, Fritz, was on the same ship and possibly other family. The funeral records of St. John indicate the parents of Heinrich and Fritz died in 1852. The mother, Dorothea Maria, died August 21, 1852, at age 64; and the father, J.Heinrich Rabe, died December 18, 1852, at age 66.
