John Thomas Jackson

John Thomas was born in Colton as the son of Richard and Margaret Jackson (nee Satterthwaite). His father died by the time he was 10 years old, and from 1871 onwards he can be found at his uncles' arm in Colton, where he lived with his mother and sister.

John Thomas married Elizabeth Muncaster, most likely in Colton, in 1882. They had a number of children, the majority of whom worked on the farm with him throughout the late 1890s and early 1900s. The name of at least one farm that John Thomas was either tenant or owner of can be found on the 1891 census as South Ickonthwaite.
