JOHN WAYNE JOHNS, 67, of Hurricane, formerly of Poca, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, following a long courageous battle with lymphoma.

He was retired from Union Carbide and a U.S. Army veteran.

He was a born again Christian and was a member of King's River Worship Center in St. Albans.

Born March 3, 1943, he was the son of the late Luther H. and Linnie Hall Johns.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth (Fox) Johns; his sister, Mary Etta (Thurman) Hull; and brothers, Don, Joe and Bill Johns.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Johns; daughter, Julie (Keith) Carper of Milton; son, Pastor David (Leigh) Johns of Winfield; stepson, Steven Nichols Jr.; grandchildren, Katie Johns, Nichole Carper, Eric Johns and Krissy Johns; sisters, Betty (Art) Combs of Peru, Ind., Jean Martin of Buffalo, Priscilla (Don) McCoy of Marysville, Ohio, and Kay (Paul) Goddard of Buffalo; brother, Bob (Judy) Johns of Buffalo; sister-in-laws, Geraldine Johns of Buffalo, Lisa Johns of Pt. Pleasant. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at at King's River Worship Center, St. Albans, with Pastor Ron Crum officiating. Burial in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
